Weather forecast for Monday morning was very poor, however we got to the airport in good time. Garth and Helena collected us and we went back to their hotel for breakfast, once they checked out Garth, Flo and I headed off to Pollenca. The bad weather followed us from the mainland and the drive was rather nasty. We stopped off at the bike shop for old times sake, still a good shop, looked at the new Trek Domane. Tuesday weather was still very poor collected my hire bike from Pinarello Experience between the showers and waited for better weather on Wednesday.
Just about to set off
Wednesday arrived sunny and warm, off we set to Lluc Monastery some minor navigation problems but we soon found our way. First impression was how bad the roads were in fact so many holes were marked on Garmin it made it useless for navigation.
Thursday and we did a big loop in the direction of Sa Pobla, Sineu once off the main roads it was more enjoyable, but after Sineu the traffic was terrible.
Friday we arranged to meet Flo and Helena at the lighthouse by Formentor for coffee unfortunately they turned back due to traffic and no parking. We continued on although we also turned just short of the lighthouse because of the traffic the descent back to Pollenca was better as the traffic was held up behind us. Once back I returned my Pinarello and we all went for coffee on the Sea front.
Really enjoyed Garth and Helena’s company and our cycling was very good, Flo and I were able to relax as it has been quite full on since Flo hip operation most afternoons We lay around watching TV.
Mallorca would no longer be my cycling destination of choice, the roads are too congested with both cars and cyclists. There has been no investment in cycling the roads were very poor even down to road makings. As a whole the island is extremely busy with people and traffic.
